How to create this type effect within Appearance palette?

What would be the easiest way to set a lot of type in this style?

Currently I have it all set as type (not outlined) and have the Rise Warp effect applied from the Appearance tab as well as a Drop Shadow. However, with this method I have to go in manually with the pen tool to keep it from looking like this:

I'll be needing to make a number of titles in this style and I'm looking for the quickest way to do it. Any advice? Thanks.

Edit: Bonus points for achieving this look in InDesign!

1. Perhaps the 3D Extrude and Bevel effect. Make that a graphic style.

2. Use the blend method and record an action.

(although it's merely a proof-of-concept -- I'd stick to using Illustrator for these sorts of manipulations).

Using Transform "copies", is the key.
