I can't launch Illustrator CS6 (just upgraded from 5.5). When I click the icon I get a dialogue box error message over the launch graphic, saying - "Unable to set maximum number of files to be opened". When I click OK the program closes. Anyone know what needs resolved here? I have uninstalled and reinstalled, but it still does this.
There is already a discussion regarding this issue on the Illustartor Forums , it might help :-

Just an update, after checking out the other discussion and some of the solutions -
I was also having problems with Office (yuck!) applications crashing on start-up. I added a new user admin account and that solved the problem with those ones. So I then tried Illustrator under the new user log-in and it opens fine! I noticed that this was one of the suggested solutions, so good advice.
Still get the same error message under my other log-in, and can't see what it is in that profile that is causing the problem, but I'm happier now. Got my Illustrator back!
