Adobe's tech people do suck... every one knows this. But you are wrong about them having a monopoly on the editing business. There are many other programs to use, some of which are free, that work fairly well. What Adobe has done is given up on the professional photographers. These programs are too CHEAP! $35 per month for access to the entire Adobe Master Collection means that any moron with a camera can now claim to have access to professional software thereby even more degrading the "professional photography" market.
You got to be kidding me. Stop asking baby questions. I build my own computer and install all the drivers for that from the ground up for many years. I also have a laptop, which I use lightroom 4. If you read the all my posts in this thread, I have stated I have a working lightroom 4.0 installed on my vista computer and window7 laptop, both works fine. The problem I am having is adobe LR4.1 zip download never unzipped my files right to even install. I can't install if it won't fully unzip. Then complianed about Adobe including a 32bit and 64bit in on edownload. Most sites that let you download updates will ask for 32 or 64bit version, if Adobe did that I might not even have problem unzipping the file.
Here are my laptop specs:
Intel core2 duo T9400 @ 2.53ghz
4gb of ram
30gb of 128gb are free
Window 7 ultimate Service pack 1 with all the latest updates
the screen 1680x1050, I have a dual screen to a ips monitor
workstation laptop from thinkpad with ati fireGL graphic card
comcast 25gb download
computer is older, but still works:
quadcore q6600
Vista ultimate sp2
more ton of hard-drive space so I don't know why it won't unzip on this computer either.
4gb of ram
a mid-range/high gaming graphic card, forgot which one.
So the spec on either of my laptop or computer is not an issues to unzip this file. I migh thave to take this file and try unzipping it on my netbook, just to extract a decent 64bit installer of LR4.1. Yes your post was nice, but totally unsightful. I do my best to write write everthing out clearly. even tech support has no answer and they try playing with admistrator role over the VPN. I am stuck in lightroom 4.0 until they figure this out.

Stop your self-important ranting and have another look at Victoria's post - you'll see that she wasn't asking you, she was replying to kstyle13's post.
In fact, at no point has Victoria addressed you - presumably because you already have all the answers.
self-important or not, I just want the some noticable results. Obviously this issues happens on some computers and Adobe hasn't pointed out why or I haven't gotten the answer. I did apolized to Victoria for thinking her reply to is for someone else. In general a simple reponse like do you have window 7 or vista is like someone just wants to post on a forum to be nice, but..
A couple things I will tried like other people with issues done: Download via IE (I use firefox mostly) and extract it on as many different computers I have at home.
I will continue with the the phone text support, whenever I get the chance to call back during their hours. I will report back any fixes or reasons they found out.

sorry vic, I thought you were replying to me.
No issue camerarchitect (and thanks Keith!). Your frustration is completely understandable. Most of the "it won't install" threads at the moment are people trying to install on older versions of Mac OSX, hence my question to kstyle.
Is it just an unzipping issue you're having? I don't have all the answers, but I'll help in whatever way I can. I'm not on my Windows machine at the moment, but if you'd like to drop me an email, I can try sending you an exe link instead.

I would say the advent in increase preformance of the aps-c dslr to the mass market has more to do with that. Anybody with a entry to midrange camera with a cheap 50mm prime can take almost pro like result. Sensors has increase in dynamic range and color depth (sony sensors good example) the last two years has made even consumer cameras taking great photos. Look at flickr, hard to tell a pro from a very good prosumers these days, the saturation of good photographer is greater every year. Pro got to either get better (more creative) or do more videos for paid events to seperate themselves.

I was going to ask adobe tech to do this. This won't solve the problem as for every update, I would have to get a unzipped 64bit.exe email to me per update. I rather they solve the unzipping issues. I have have cs5.5 and even the adobe flash player which are alway updating. Not sure how offen LR4 updates, hopefully not as much as cs5.5 or close to the flash player.
Yes I am frustrated, I have ignored this issues for a while, sorry for the rant on here. As I tried to download the trail and 4.1 beta version long time ago to get more performance.
If I can't get adobe tech to fix or email me an .exe file, then I would take up on your offer.
Thank you

Got it installed! For some reason, u have to download it with the Internet Explorer. I tried about 8 times by using firefox and it never worked. Problems exactly as described in here. Download with IE. No more a problem. good luck!.
Ok, I will shut up and leave now. I just did this comment above and downloaded from Internet Explorer 9; unzipped and it installed fine. I usually use Firefox. I stilll prefer firefox for browsing ie: speed, security and spell checking (IE9 none here). Maybe some of my security settings are more restricted on firefox then they are on IE, and I get an unfinished download. This is the first time I ever encountered downloading files differently on different browsers (beside the speed).
That is all. No more childish rant from me. Now I will turn off the email noticifation for this thread. Now if LR4 can read .nef file as good as NX then I would even be more happy.
If it helps anyone searching in the future for a similar problem (precisely how I found this thread) - my installation for 4.3 (new purchase) would download fine, using Chrome, but not open.
I redownloaded it, same deal.
I then used 7-Zip to open the archive, which contained the same-named 'Install Lightroom 4.exe' file as the download archive, a pdf readme and the main directory (Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4). Again, the .exe did not work. However, I opened the directory and ran setup32.exe with no problem.
