Adobe Community: Upgrading from PSE9 to PSE10

There is an upgrade version, but it's usually cheaper to look around and buy the full version at someplace like amazon or a big box store.

Also, before you spend the money I would download the trial and make sure that there are enough changes in PSE 10 to make it worthwhile for you.

Thanks Barbara I do alot of restorations and from what I can see the PSE10 has some new features that will be of some help. Can you say why you would purchase the full version instead of the upgrade. Is there and issue with the upgrade?

No, no issue. But why pay more for it? It's also a full version. There's no version of PSE that just updates what you have. If the update is going to cost you $70, for example, and the non-update is $50, I see no reason to spend that extra 20 bucks.

I see, I live in Canada, not sure if that makes the difference or not, but the update is $80 and the full version is $150. I guess the answer I'm looking for is... is if the upgrade, upgrades my PSE9 to PSE10??

No. It's a separate standalone version that has no effect on your installation of PSE 9.

Incidentally, PSE 10 is only $99 at amazon.ca right now. I would look around more.

Thank you for all your info it has been very helpful. Just another quick question...Do I have to purchase Lightroom 4 or is there and upgrade from 3 to 4?

If you have LR3 you can buy the upgrade for LR4. The upgrade for Lightroom is always cheaper in my experience.

Yes, it is...

I did buy the update, forgetting that LR 4 requires at least Vista or Windows7 I'll have to wait for a future upgrade of my XP computer...

Just a word of warning: some people will hate the Windows8 user interface, so if you don't like what you see about it, the time to upgrade to Win7 is now.
