E-mails bouncing

All of my business contacts have been complaining today about mail bouncing back to them. I use a POP set-up and have done so for over a year and have never had any issues. I get 2 e-mails sent to me (would prefer 1 but I get 2). Today I'm only getting the 1 and one of my contacts sent me a copy of what he is getting. I will put xxx's in to safeguard privacy for the e-mail addresses mentioned:

(SNT0-MC4-F45) Unfortunately, messages from 64.98.36.17 weren't sent.

Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network

is on our block list. You can also refer your provider to

http://mail.live.com/mail/troubleshooting.aspx#errors. (in reply to MAIL

FROM command)

I did go and look up the error per the link above and it states this:

550 SC-002Mail rejected by Hotmail for policy reasons. The mail server IP connecting to Hotmail has exhibited namespace mining behavior. If you are not an email/network admin please contact your Email/Internet Service Provider for help.

So, I'm reporting it to you guys in the hopes this can be fixed. What other information do you need from me for this to be rectified? OR, do I need to contact someone specifically to get this fixed?

Thanks!

Our mail Security Team was able to contact Microsoft, and we have confirmed that our IP address has been removed from their blacklist Lexy.  Our logs are now showing that mail to Hotmail servers is once again being delivered successfully.

Have a great day!

Thank you for your patience and apologies for the delay in posting here.

We have contacted our mail service provider and it's confirmed that the IP in question - 64.98.36.17 (from the bounce message) is their Forwarding server IP.  This tends to get blacklisted due to what the forwarding server does.  Basically, if any spam is sent to this customer and it makes it through our filters then they are forwarding that on to their hotmail account, which causes them to look bad.  You can imagine that many users on our mail system forward email from their account here to their local ISP or hotmail/gmail/yahoo account to consolidate.

Our security team is attempting to contact MSN to resolve the issue with our forwarding IP. Emails sent directly from a hostedemail customer's mailbox will go through as I've tested this and it works.  It's only when email is forwarded to hotmail that it fails.

I hope this helps!

Thanks Andrei.

The problem seems to have stopped for me as I'm again getting 2 e-mails and my clients aren't complaining about bounce-backs. So, I guess for me it's sorted. Glad I brought it up as it may be affecting others too.

Thanks again!
