I feel certain this is a bug. I can create my own random shape in a new file and make it a button or a hyperlink, and it works fine. But when I try to select an existing shape, make either a button or a hyperlink to a very simple web address (with the http://), no spaces, no trailing slashes, etc. -- it doesn't work.
I've been using hyperlinks and buttons for years in InDesign (and years before that, typing HTML code in Notepad!). I've used the same file before (a copy thereof) to teach a DPS class, and it worked just fine. Today I downloaded the last DPS tool release (dated June 16, I think), and it's a problem. Bug.
Your post did not appear to have anything to do with the discussion you posted it in so I branched it off to a new one. In the future please create a new thread rather than hijacking one that already exsists.
That said, if you can post a sample of this somewhere perhaps we can help but I can tell you I've not seen this problem myself nor have I seen it reported. That leads me to guess that it's some type of problem specific to your workflow.
Finally, it doesn't work gives us nothing to go on. What happens when you try?
