    How can you minimize the program so you can see your desktop without closing the entire program?

    Are you perhaps in full screen mode, so you can't see the normal minimize buttons?  If so, press F once or twice so it turns back into a normal window.

    Thanks, both methods worked. I was in full screen with menu and switched to normal and the minimize button displays and WinKey+D works as well. I searched the help section many times and was getting frustrated being in the middle of a project and have to close the program just to get to my desktop.
