As of last patch, CR is adding red pixels... why?

Jul 6, 2012 11:45 AM

As of this week's patch I am now seeing red pixel blotches in highlight areas.

These areas were not red prior to the patch and nothing else has changed on my system.

This seems to be some kind of highlight warning. I can save my pic to jpg or other formats and the red is not present. I can reduce the highlights and the red areas deminish with reduction.

Adobe, if this is some sort of warning thing you added, GET RID OF IT!

    It's optional.

Toggle the clipping warnings by clicking the button at top left and top right of histogram.

Do you have the show highlight clipping enabled?

Do the red areas go away if you press O on the keyboard?

The above two answers are exactly correct.

I'll add that the highlight clipping warning has been available in versions of Camera Raw going way back.  You probably accidentally toggled it on coincident with the update.

From the tone of the OP and others by the same poster, it sounds like a clear case of plain cluelessness.  The more forceful the rant, the greater the probability of PEBKAC—it never fails.
