When I install Adobe Reader, ALL pinned icons & ALL links to other programs are changed to shortcut to adobe reader.
As soon as I un-install Adobe Reader, icons & program shortcuts revert.
To test I also installed Foxit Reader & that worked normally for a while. Then it, too, mimiced the Adobe Reader behavior.
From this I deduce something is happening when I try to open a pdf file, no matter what reader I am using.
I am up to date with ESET NOD32 program & definition files.
Currently I cannot read any pdf file.
Running Win7 Home premium
Thank you.
Michael, Thanks VERY much for your reply to my problem. For the moment, everything seems ok. I d/l newest Reader & installed w/o incident. Icons & shortcuts are ok. I am able to open pdf files w/o incident.
However, Win7Fix was unable to completely merge because "some keys were open".
I'm left with two questions:
(1) Is there something special I should do to complete the merge -- if necessary?
(2) I found this whole issue very strange; do you have any explanation for it. Apparently, I'm not the only one as it was already in knowledgebase. ??
