    Yes, exactly.

With the Cloud, you download, install and run the apps locally.

You save your work locally as always (or anywhere else you choose - e.g. Dropbox) and send it via email or any other method.

You sync to the Cloud what you want to sync to the Cloud (up to 20GB).

If you don't want to store anything in the Cloud then you don't have to. It's up to you.

Okay- so basically you are just "leasing" the Creative Suite and/or all Adobe products month to month?

and once you stop payments all the applications basically vapourize?

    Yes.

They don't vapourize. You just lose the ability to run them until you renew your subscription.

Will the work you already created disappear too?

No. You've saved it locally. It's safe. The Cloud won't touch any files which you've saved locally.

Your Cloud storage will reduce from 20GB to 2GB - so you'll have 90 days to download whatever files you want from the Cloud and save them elsewhere. But if you've already got them stored locally then they're safe anyway.

    http://www.adobe.com/au/products/creativecloud/faq.html

"What happens to my files in the cloud if I cancel my membership?

If you cancel your paid membership you will still have access to the free level of membership, which provides 2GB of storage. You will have a 90-day grace period to delete files to get your cloud storage down to 2GB (or to purchase additional storage separately if you choose). If you leave more than 2GB of files in your cloud storage for more than 90 days, you may lose access to some or all of your files."
