Buttons on Master Slide-Cp6

Jul 9, 2012 1:48 PM

I am having a terrible time getting buttons to work consistantly in Master Slides in Cp6. They just don't respond to the directions given to them. They especially don't like to jump to slides. It will usually either restart the current slide or jump to the next slide. Is anyone else experiencing this behavior. It has happened in a couple projects now.

Maybe I'm just doing something wrong???

    Thoughts? Sure

Please complete a Wish Form to alert Adobe to the need for such a feature.

    Cheers... Rick

I'm a bit puzzled, were you talking about shapes used as buttons on Master slides, because normal buttons cannot be inserted on a Master slide at all.

    Hi,

Can you please tell how are you using buttons in the master slide. And what exactly the issue is?

As you told that they dont like to jump to slide, i would like to add something to that. If you have buttons on the master slide, you surely want that button to work on all the slides and will do the same function on all the slide. now if for example, I use a button and set an action to jump to slide number 4, then if i will use the button on the first slide, it will take me to the slide 4. Now if i am on the slide 4 and now if i try to use the button again, it will restart the same slide (Slide # 4) and that is what it is suppose to do.

This thing works in action like "jump to next slide" as it will take you to the next slide till you reach the end of the slide.

For master slide, if we use button then we should be very careful in choosing actions.

This is one of the scenario which i experienced. Please share your issue with me, so that i can try that as well.

    Thanks

    Aditya,

Can you explain how CP6 allows buttons on Master slides? This is a feature I have been wanting since eons, but AFAIK even in CP6 only shapes used as buttons are possible, with the consequence that they do not have any states like the normal buttons. In previous versions only the Static button widget, with its limited functionalities were possible. Perhaps it is only a 'terminology' issue, but I really want to avoid to confuse other users because I'm confused myself now.

With Buttons i meant using smart shapes as button. I gave answer with reference to smart shapes use as buttons. As you have already mentioned in your previous post, that's why I didnt mentioned it seperately.

I agree with you that we can only use Smart shapes as buttons, which will then give us an option to add action to that.

I also asked the same question to the user, that how is he using buttons on master slide, and then provided my suggestion considering smart shapes used as button.

    Thanks.

If you are publishing the project and then making some changes and publishing the project again. Just a recommendation, do check the "force re publish all the slides". This ensures that all the changes are updated in the published output. Please check the screenshot :

When Previewing, did you Preview the whole project or something like 'From this slide'?  Because all slides have to be compiled to use all navigation.
