Media Encoder Stalls on Start Up on Mac

When I open Media Encoder the application stalls on startup. It stalls at point where screen images states 'Loading Exporter QuickTime Host.bundle.'

 

I have AME version 5.5.1.12

 

I have Mac OSX v 10.7.4 running on MacPro 2.66 ghz quad core intl xeon.

 

The application was running without a problem until today. I haven't installed anything new on the computer lately.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Try restarting the computer.

    I've tried restarting. No luck. Same problem.

    Can you trash you prefs then?

    Go to "~/Library/Preferences/Adobe" directory and delete both "Common" and "Adobe Media Encoder" directories.

    Note that this will delete all of your custom presets so make a backup if you value them.

    Thanks. That seems to have done the trick. Appreciate your help. Any idea on what may have damaged the preferences?
