Kinetic Typography Text Outlining

I am working on a project that involves two overlapping e's.

 

I need to figure out how to start an outline of these letters, starting in the center, and working it's way outward and around the letters until they are done being outlined, and then the fill of the e's are faded in.

 

Please help me, especially on the outlining part. I am extremely confused and have no idea where to start. *Tried google already

    You can use the same text twice: one with the outline and transparent fill, and one with fill only.  Use the outline-only layer as a track matte for an animated mask on a solid, then simply animate the opacity of the fill-only layer from 0 to 100%.

    If you want the stroke to reveal the letters like it was being written on try converting the text to shape layers and then add a trim paths effect. If you just want to reveal the stroke try a track matte with an animated gradient or an animated mask.
