No 3D feature in CS6 - Intel HD 3000 graphics

Hey there!

I'm just wondering if it is normal I don't have the 3D feature in Photoshop CS6. I had it installed in my old laptop (an old one with a AMD Vision processor) and the 3D option was available, but after I moved all my old programs to my new one (a Windows 7, 64 bits, Intel Core i5, Intel HD 3000 Graphics video card) this option is not available. I dunno if it's due to the fact that OpenCL is not available in my laptop or if it's anything else.

Can you help me solving that? Thanks in advance.

Is 3D not visiable in toolbar, or is grayed out?

Some 3D features need at least 512g of VRAM.

Hi! did you check if there is a more current driver? (I doubt that Intel would release them as often as nVidia/AMD, but one never knows...)

Also, open CL is only used for the acceleration of the Blur Gallery filters: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-cs6-gpu-faq.html

Not to put too fine a point on it, but traditionally Intel's display driver quality has been, er, less than optimal.  I had the impression for a while that they were trying to improve that, but so far they still seem to be struggling.

I can't quite tell whether your new system is a laptop or desktop from your comments, but if the latter and you can augment your system with a video card, that's one possible avenue to success...  Something like a VisionTek ATI Radeon HD 7750 is only a hundred bucks.

If you have a laptop that possibility is likely not available, though how new is it?  Maybe you can exchange it for one that will run Photoshop better?

Dr Manga, what do you mean by "I installed openCL?" You mean that in system info, the driver date is 20120608000..., and that OpenCL is enabled?

As I told you earlier, openCL is not related to the 3D features.

But are you sure that the 3D is disabled? The 3d tools on the move tool's option bar are greyed out until you create an actual 3D object.

If you have a text layer, or a layer with some text, and you go to the 3D menu, don't you see "create 3d layer from this layer" or something similar?

When you click on Help/about photoshop does it say EXTENDED?

Extended should also be in the opening splash screen.

Some users buy extended by it does not install properly.

I'd rather try to install the trial version.

Did you get the beta from labs.adobe.com? If not, it might contain malware. The beta had 3D, maybe a bad install?

You really do need to completely remove the Beta, run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, then install the release.

Might not hurt, if that still doesn't give you success, to go into Help -  System Info...  and post the information here.  It'll be kind of long, but it could be helpful in seeing what's going wrong.

Interesting, since the official beta expired several weeks ago.

Hence my question. Would it be possible to keep the installer and install later?

Because PS installs in so many places transfering the program from one computer to another may leave out critical files.
