trying to install update 7.0 for cs6, but insists I close Bridge, which is NOT open... What can I do IT'S NOT OPEN!!!

Which operating system are you using? You can utilize the Task Manager/Activity Monitor depending on your OS to close the Bridge process. It is likely it is still open but just is not visible to you.

As Jeff said, Task manger --> Processes tab --> Bridge.exe --> Right-click --> End process.
