Don't know if you recieve the first reply moments ago, but just in case. I'm new at this (bought a new printer(canon MP navigator EX-MX 360 series), trying to scan and edit scanned document on me desktop, also trying to fax and cannot seem to figured out how to switch to fax mode on the printer (it has all options-fax, copy, scan, and of course print). Any help would be greatly appreciated (told you I need help). Jacqueline 'jackei' Hampton.
Unfortunately it doesn't sound like your issue is at all related to Adobe products, so you may not find help with your printer here. However I did a quick web search and found some links for you:
Here are some quick tips for faxing with the MX 360.
And you can download the manual for the printer here.
I hope this helps you and that you solve your issue.
If you want to edit a scan, please keep in mind that a scan is nothing but a picture. If you want to change the picture you could purchase and use Adobe Photoshop Elements. If your scan is filled with text you want to change this is a much iffier proposition. You could purchase dedicated OCR (optical recognition software) that will try to convert pictures of text into real text or you can use Adobe Acrobat (not Adobe Reader). Acrobat has the capability of converting scanned text to real text, but to do any serious editing you would need to export the OCR'd text into a program like Microsoft Word.
Many scanners come with crude but effective graphic software and some even come with OCR software.
