Because your Creative Suite applications are installed directly on your computer, you will not need an ongoing Internet connection to use them on a daily basis.
However, you will need to be online when you install and license your software, and at least once every 30 days thereafter. The software will alert you when you need to connect to the Internet for a license status check.
Note: some users are experiencing issues where launching a CS5 product causes a CS6 product to revert to trial mode, and needs to be relicensed. Adobe has an updated version of the Adobe Application Manager (AAM) which resolves the issue. This updated version will get installed automatically when launching AAM in the very near future, but if you are interested it getting it immediately it can be downloaded and installed from these links:
Kim, this is a great solution and I think will work for us, but we have an additional hurdle. Something in our corporate firewall is preventing the AAM from accessing the Adobe server to validate our license to Creative Cloud. I recently read the Adobe support article for the issue you described: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/trial--1-launch.html. It seemed like a great solution, so I downloaded the updated AAM. According to the article, when I launch a CS6 application and get the "Trial Version" window, I simply have to click "License this Software" and then sign in to my Adobe ID to reactivate the software. However, when I click the "License my Software" button, I get the error message pictured below. I never get a chance to log in with my Adobe ID. I realize this is probably due to some proxy setting or firewall issue within my organization. Is there a specific url or domain or some other information that I can provide my IT group so that they can allow the CS6 applications to communicate through the firewall? Also, I'm not sure if this is relevant, but I was one of the MAX 2011 attendees that received a free year subscription to the Adobe Cloud.
I would be very grateful for any info or suggestions you can provide!
I neglected to mention that I actually DO have internet access...I can access external websites and I can successfully download CS6 applications through the AAM, but it's the "License this Software" feature that can't seem to break through.

Hi UkarumpianSon,
Based on your description it sounds like something might be blocking the systems access to our activation server. This document goes over some of the related troubleshooting:

Kim, do I need to be online exactly 30 days after my initial license date or is de software checking my license when I'm online? Because I'm traveling I don't have access to the internet every day. Thanks for your quick response because my software is warning me that I can't use my services within 5 days.
Greets, Mark
I asked about a number of scenarios and most of them have been answered HERE.
Bottom line: must start (an?) application with internet access at least once every 23 days for normal access. From day 23 to 29th the user is warned that access is needed. Day 30 to 34 are grace and more dire warnings. After day 35 access is completely revoked - no reverting to trial, no further grace period until internet access is able to confirm a valid license. The length of the license is irrelevant (i.e. a month to month or one year contract).
It's not clear if starting up one application is enough to renew all applications (hoping so), or if each application must be started separately.
AND, it's not clear if the license manager is running in the background and can update the status even if no cloud licnesed applications are started.
Kim, thank you for your explanation, but I have two questions before I decide to subscribe:
1 (this might be a stupid one but you never know)
When I'm away from my computer (or any computer) for 7 weeks, what happens when I get back? I understood that, not having validated the subscription, the software won't work. But will it work when I'm, at that moment after 7 weeks, connected to the internet and thus able to validate my subsciption at that moment? Or would my subscription be cancelled completely?
2
Do you have to launch every application to validate, or is launching one application sufficient for all applications to keep working?
These questions are quite crucial for my decision making, and as I can't seem to find clear answers anywhere, I hope you can answer these!
Best
Ineke
This is not "Great," this is not a "good solution," this is NOT something you thank Adobe for. This problem was ENTIRELY made up by Adobe and the "solutions" fall, of course, COMPLETELY in Adobe's favor. This Creative Cloud has nothing to do with the people who have purchased and upgrade this product for the past 20 years; it has everything to do with getting us in step with their program because they know there is no other option out there. They've cornered the market and they can set their own rules. You must comply. Resistance is futile.
