Is this an image you've opened before? If so, and you chose a crop for it before, it will be presented again that way.

Click the Crop Tool. Do you now see the whole image?

Click and hold your mouse button on the Crop tool at the top of the Camera Raw dialog, choose Clear Crop. You might also want to set it to Normal if it is not already set that way.

EDIT: Sorry, I misread your original message. I see you already considered this.

Thanks, but that this was the first time I've opened the image. I've tried clearing the crop tool, and it's set to normal. All to no avail. I've attached a screen shot of my ACR window - you can it's set to normal, no crop marks, and the image size at the bottom.

FYI, on my PC (don't have a Mac here) I just opened a 5DMark3 image to see if maybe there was just a typo with the internal size for images from that camera internally, but it showed the native resolution as the expected 5760x3840.

What does the list of conversion sizes say in the Workflow Options (via the link at the bottom center of the Camera Raw dialog)?

The conversion sizes also show the cropped size.

To be clear, this only happened when I shot a still in the middle of shooting video. When I've shot just stills, I get the full, uncropped image.

Perhaps I don't fully understand how to do that, as I don't have a 5DMark3.

Seems like something the Camera Raw people might want to look at. More of them hang out over here: http://forums.adobe.com/community/cameraraw

While shooting video, if you press the shutter button, the camera pauses recording video and takes a standard still photo. The same as on the 5DII. It's that still file that is causing the problem. I'll try the cameraraw forum. Thanks very much.

I don't have the 5D MKIII but shooting a still in the middle of a video sequence will give you a cropped 16x9 image by default - so for the Nikon it is operating as designed. To shoot a full frame still I need to shut down the video capture - I suspect this is the design of the Canon as well.

Even if the video and the camera JPG are cropped, the raw data is not cropped, and so the point is that the raw data is what ACR operates on, so why not allow the user to produce the full-resolution image, rather than artificially cropping it off merely because it was shot during a video capture. I think some users would want it cropped and some people wouldn’t so why not make it a choice.

This is not the way it worked with the 5DII and CS5. I spoke with a Canon rep who was surprised and suspected a bug of some sort - either Canon or Adobe's I guess. With the 5DII I could shoot a still while shooting video and get the entire image using ACR.

The information is there - I can see it in Photo Mechanic an image browser software app it's just not accessible in Photoshop as best as I can figure.

I am not so sure the Canon rep is right. Page 228 of the 5D MKIII manual gives a clue, and mentions that if high quality video capture is set ie 1920x1080 then the still image will have a crop of 16x9, unless I am reading this wrong. This is shown in the table for image recording quality. But as I said I could be reading this wrong

This is the same behavior as the Nikon D800.

Hmmm. That is interesting. Looks like you're right. Not the way it worked previously. I wonder if Canon's Raw software will let you edit the full image - I'll have to test that.

Still seems like if the information is there it would be easy for ACR to read it.

I know that this topic has been dead for a while but did you find a solution to this? I note that DPP can see the whole image, and you can uncrop and re-crop it there but Raw still crops to the original 19:9 - really frustrating.
