I have Acrobat 8 Standard. I would like to be able to create forms that allow users to add info to fields and to be able to submit those forms. I have been looking over the info on X Pro but I am wondering if I order the software upgrade, will I need to upgrade my full version of 8 to 9 first, or can I get all of the functionality of X Pro with 8 Standard only?
No version of Acrobat Standard provides the full functionality of Acrobat Pro.
The Pro release always provides more.
If you want to create PDF forms that can be filled in and saved by others who use Adobe Reader you must use Acrobat X Pro (to "reader enable" the PDF).

Thank you CtDave. I appreciate your help. I have full-blown Standard 8 here at where I work. My supervisor wants me to be able to create secure forms for use online. After doing some research, I noticed that I can purchase X Pro for $199 (since I have the full version of 8 Standard) rather than purchasing it for 799.00. The way that Adobe words it anyways...that may not be the actual case. Does that make sense?
It may be too good to be true.
$199 is correct.
That's the price for an upgrade from Acrobat 8 Standard to Acrobat X Pro.
Note that when installing an upgrade you'll need the serial number for the licensed copy of Acrobat 8 Standard.
