After Effects Minimized Render Crash?

I am experiencing a very annoying issue pertaining to After Effects CS 5.5. I recently purchased the product (Production Premium CS5) and installed it on PC only to encounter a strange error. Whenever I do a preview render (pressing 0) and then minimize I then see the number of frames being rendered in the minimized window (this is normal). However, upon clicking the minimized window to reopen it After Effects crashes immediately with the error: After Effects error: "Crash in Progress.Lastlogged message was : <4924><ImporterMPEG><1>Error_printf:No Video Available". After effects gives me the option to save my work and notifies me to contact the Adobe Technical Support Center. I recently purchased this product I am disappointed that I cannot minimize the program while rendering, the program did not do this immediately, it started doing this a couple of days after I started using it.

I have already tried uninstalling after effects and reinstalling and i get the same error everytime.

My PC Specs:

8GB RAM

AMD 1100T Sixcore 3.3 Ghz processor

GTX 275 graphics card performance edition

Is there something I'm missing? Please Help me resolve this issue, After Effects is a good product.

If it crashes with different errors, then you changed something systemic nad your graphics card more than qualkifies. eitehr you changed its config or installed a new driver or, alternatively, you are using an OpenGL driven effect in AE that you didn't use before.

    Hi woot903

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I get the exact same error when trying to open a AE project on my work iMac. (AE is cs5.5. OSX is 10.7.2)

    Cheers

    Hi,

I am having the exact same problem all of a sudden. I can open other projects without trouble, but for my most recent project (deadline approaching of course) it crashes upon opening.

I can enable caps lock, which disables video preview, but as soon as I undo CapsLock it crashes again with the same error: (see attached).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, thanks for all the great tips and tutorials Mylennium!

    cheers,

    bw

I fixed this problem on OSX Lion by going in to Disk Utility and selection Repair Permissions. Now AE works again - phew!

    Hi again,

figured out the culprit. After some sleuthing discovered that one of my .ai graphic files somehow became corrupted and was crashing AE. Saved as a copy, reimported, no problem.

    Bit of a minefield sometimes...

Bumping up this old thread for the chance that perhaps anyone might have found a fix?

    Thanks
