Project Exceeds Disk Capacity - What Do I Do?

Jul 12, 2012 9:41 PM

4.87 GB is the current size. Is there a way to make Encore automatically adjust data rate to fit on a DVD disk without editing out part of the video?

I changed the project transcode settings from 8 to 6 Mbps, but it did not make a difference in the projected project size. I also changed the quality preset values, but that didn't make a difference, either.

Tell Encore you want to use a dual layer disc... if, of course, you HAVE a dual layer burner and disc blanks

Also, to create a dual layer disc, you MUST do this http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395

If you don't want to go dual layer,  you must "revert to original" to retranscode. When you can't select a new setting, that is usually what has happened.

I just thought there was a setting that automatically encoded the disk to max 4.7 capacity.

There is; set the transcode setting to "automatic."

I thought you saw that and could not get it to stick. But you want to use that on a lossless or minimally compressed file, or by using dynamic link; not on material that is already mpeg2.

As Stan said, there is such a setting inside Encore... I always use that setting, with DV AVI exported out of PPro, so Encore is able to do the transcoding
