Help me please

Recently my Acrobat Reader quit working. When I would try to open any pdf's I get a bad image message. I have since removed Acrobat from my computer in an attempt to reinstall it. I am now unable to reinstall Acrobat on my computer. I keep receiving an error 1402 message and Acrobat will not install on my computer. I have Windows 7 on my computer and could not make sense out of the trouble shooter provided by Adobe. I would like simple and precise instructions on how to remedy this issue.

Run the Acrobat Cleaner tool from http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html

Note that this will also remove Adobe Reader.

If you still have problems after that, please supply the full error message you are getting.
