ID CS5 Option key

The Optionl key is not working as a modifier with the text tool in ID CS5. I cannot make a bullet (Opt-8). However, it works with the Selection tool because I can click on a frame, hold Option, and drag to make a duplicate of the frame. Has anyone else experienced this? Solutions?

 

Same issue in PS CS5

 

Apple v. 10.6.8

    Custom Keyboard shorcut set?

    I checked the keyboard settings in the OS Preferences and in Modifier Keys Option = Option.

    If you know of a way that I could have unintentially activated a custom shortcut set? Thanks for a quick response.

    Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts... would be how you set up a custom set. I asked becasue this can be symptomatic of trying to use a set copied from an earlier version of ID.

     

    I think though, this might be a different problem in your case. Is your browser or email also open? I have a vague memory of a problem with one or the other capturing the key.  Are you patched to 7.0.4?

    I quit Safari and "voila!" Option key works in ID.

    I'm using Safari now and Option key still works   •   I can make a bullet!

    I don't think I would have put that together, so thanks! I run Safari all day while working and have for years.

     

    Re: Are you patched to 7.0.4? I'm not sure if you are referring to OSX or CS5 (pardon my ignorance) but my system automatically checks for OSX software updates. As soon as I am through this deadline I will do a manual check.
