Premiere Cs5.5 GPU accelerating In Export

Jul 27, 2012 6:33 AM

Im using Geforce GT 440 & 520 cards for Gpu acceleration in premiere pro cs 5.5 . But when i exporting a HDV video via queue in export window it takes real time of the video to export. But my premiere project has GPU acceleration. What is the problem? Can some1 help me with this, Plz....

There are several factors involved in the export time and real time is not necessarily abnormal. You will have to list far more information such as system specs, project layout/media included, effects used, and export settings/presets. The easier way to see if the MPE engine is running as it should is run the PPBM5 benchmark to see if your system is running in the timeframe it should for a test/known project.

Exporting HDV to HDV is a CPU matter, no GPU is involved.

These cards, GT 440 and GT 520, are hopeless as far as really accelerating any MPE effects or features.  With only 96 CUDA cores and 48 CuDA cores respectively you might as well forget about any GPU performance enhancement.

Unfortunately, neither the GT 440 (aka GT 630) nor the GT 520 (aka GT 610) is certified by Adobe. In fact, Adobe will never certify any GPU that costs less than $350 when it is introduced. Both the GT 440 and the GT 520 were introduced at less than $100 to begin with. Second, both the GT 440 and (especially) the GT 520 are weaklings that are actually slower than your system's CPU! Third, by default with a non-certified GPU you are locked into the software-only mode. In my own testing with CS5.5 on my main system with an i7-2600K that was overclocked to 4.4GHz I found the GT 240 (with 96 CUDA cores) needed all of 249 seconds in the MPEG-2 DVD test in PPBM5 compared to the 111 seconds required by the more expensive 448-core GTX 470. Worse, if your GT 440 uses the much more comonly found DDR3 VRAM instead of the harder-to-find GDDR5 VRAM, expect the performance to be even slower than my GT 240 (with GDDR5 VRAM) was.
