I've got a large set of icons as symbols. Is there any easy way to just export all the symbols either as individual files or as a sprite sheet?
Hi Niblettes,
Are your symbols already placed inside of a document, or do you just have them in a Symbol Library?
One easy way to save them individually is by using the Slice tool. Place all of your icons in a document set for Web and then, using the slice tool, you can create boxes around each individual icon.
You can export each one by choosing File > Save Selected Slices or you can export them all in one by choosing File > Save for Web and then selecting all of the slices in the dialog box.
Does this help you?
Michael
That is helpful to export the symbols individually -- but it still required manually creating a contact sheet of symbols. I was hoping there would be an easy way for Illustrator to do that work for me. I mean if I add or remoe symbols then I have to go and update the contact sheet. I thought computers were supposed to do the drudgery for us?
Still I might have to use your solution for the moment. Thanks!
