I can not open attachment pdf file in my email, i do have reader working on my computer and correct default program setting

What means "can not"; what exactly happens when you try?
Operating system= windows vista home
and using explorer 9

when i double click on pdf file it goes to blank page, I have tried to save file first but will not save
Thanks for the additional information, but I do not understand "will not save".
How do you see the attachment, as a web link? Does that directly link to the PDF attachment? If you right-click on it and select 'Save Target as', does it not save it?
when i try to save target, i get to screen to pick file to save in but file is blue highlight and will not save , the file was sent as a pdf not a web link
