Glitchy RAM previews...

Jul 16, 2012 8:40 PM

My system is relatively robust:

i7 920, 12GB RAM, GTX 480 video card,  8 HDD aranged in various RAIDs.....

....

On occasion, I have had problems with RAM previews...only in CS6...

After the RAM preview loads, it still won't playback in Realtime...(red "NOT realtime" warning given)

The playback bounces around from over the correct FPS to under the correct FPS.

It gets better after a few iterations of playback, but not perfect--some twithcy playback remains.

Again, I know I don't have a lot of details here, but its also not a every-time occurence yet....

...

This doesn't happen all the time, so my question is very general:

HAs anyone else experienced this?

I

Standard CS6 answer: Avoid all the crap, turn off the fast preview in the comp viewer and set it to Final Quality. and just the same, consider turning off the disk cache.

I have experienced this. It simply means that there is not enough disk cache space to hold the whole composition.

Yeah, sorry. Anyway, the comp may be to big to be held entirely in the RAM, although with 12GB, it's unlikely...

You can use more Ram to increase speed to browser much sites or programs, maybe up to 16 or more.! My Corps was setting up for us PC with 16GB ram. It works fluently.! Lol.!
