These are two different concepts.

ADA(Adobe Download Assistant) is used to download software from Adobe.com(both for paid and trial versions).

AAM(Adobe Application Manager) is used by Adobe software installed on your machine to install any updates available for the product or suite(as applicable).

If you are looking for an answer on anything in specifc please let us know.

Thanks

So when I try to install the Dreamweaver CS6 trial via the cloud, is there a reason it prompts me to install the AAM instead of the ADA?

Neither are working for me so I'm trying to understand if I did something wrong or if there's a conflict between the two.

Creative Cloud follows a seperate concept where applications/software are downloaded via AAM as opposed to ADA in other cases.

Since we have some background on your query now can you let us know where you get the error message and what error message you get when you try to download Dreamweaver CS6 via AAM ?

Thanks

After a multitude of errors both installing and using the AAM (mostly 108 and 109s now) and now the ADA, I'm now to a point where I have the latest version of AAM successfully installed (ApplicationManager6.2_all.exe) from the link on the bottom right of this page: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/.

When I try to download the Dreamweaver CS6 trial via the AAM, it appears to start downloading; however, the progress bar never moves and after 10-15 minutes, I get an 'Installation Failed' note that reads 'The download appears corrupted. Press Cancel, wait a few minutes and try again. (-60)'. When I cancel and try again in a few minutes, the same problem occurs again.

You're most welcome & thanks for the info. Did you try the troubleshooting steps for AAM mentioned on http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-creative-cloud-installation-download.html ? In case AAM still causes trouble I would recommend you to download the trial version for Dreamweaver CS 6 from http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=dreamweaver and follows the steps listed on Solution 3 under the heading AdobeApplicationManager (Creative Cloud application) is freezes while initializing or downloading the Adobe Application Manager to license the product.

Thanks

Looking over the AAM troubleshooting steps you suggested at http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-creative-cloud-i nstallation-download.html, I have tried everything but checking the installation logs. When I looked for the directory listed in the help (http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html), I am unable to find it. C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe exists, however there is no 'Installaters' sub directory.

Please note that 'view hidden files' is on in the folder's view options, I am an administrator for the workstation and I ran the AAM as an administrator.

As far as downloading the trial from http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=dreamweaver, that's actually what lead me to the cloud & AAM installation in the first place. That location uses the ADA, and when I try to install the Dreamweaver CS6 trial via the ADA, I get the 108 and 109 error codes. I have tried everything in the adobe help regarding this issue located on this page http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-download-assistant.html with no further progress or success. Note: the ADA is not installed in the programs folder and I tried to run it as an administrator.

LATEST

MH_CP it looks as if you have had difficulties downloading via both the Adobe Download Assistant and the Adobe Application Manager.  If you can please try the steps listed in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369 to initiate a direct download.  If it fails during the download via the direct connection then the next step would be to investigate how you are accessing the Internet.
