Text Wrap Ghosting Issue

Jul 17, 2012 9:08 AM

Tags: #cs5 #text_wrap

We have an InDesign CS5 document with a block of text below two items with text wrap. (In this case they are drop caps, with text wrap around the shape.) When the two items are removed from the page, the text wrap boundary remains.

1) Add a new text block with new text on the page in the same area, the boundary remains.

2) Are there extra boxes creating the text wrap? No.

3) Checked all paragraph and character styles, indents, etc.

The boundaries of the original text wrap remain until we replace the actual page.

Any ideas? Need more info?

Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing some sort of minor corruption on the page.

This has been happening in Indesign for as many versions as I can remember.

Fortunately it seems to be relatively rare though. In our experience it seems to be more likely to happen with a custom drawn path with a text wrap, such as one that has been drawn to wrap text around a clearcut image. Your solution is what we have been using as well - that is to replace the entire page - but having said that we hadn't tried exporting to inx/idml to clear it up. It would definitely be worth a go.
