It sounds as if Ilustrator and possibly also Acrobat could be a choice.

You can create badges with vector artwork (and images) in Illustrator and make systematic changes there, and you could use the option of saving to PDF with the option of anyone being able to make simpler (text) changes in Acrobat or even reader.

Depending on the artwork, you could also consider Pohotoshop for the creation of the badges.

Is there anything that would allow me to call up a name and have the text change automatically? Does that make sense?

Sorry. Say we have a group of 50 individuals who need name badges built on the same template. The template I'm sure I can build with almost any Adobe product. But currently our office is using a combo of Excel and some other super restricting program because it has the ability to hold in an excel book, the information for the 50 individuals so that in the event someone loses a card, or we need to know information on a card on the fly...they can just select that person, the card template immediately displays the card personalized to that individual and we print. Therefore, you don't need to edit a template every time you need to get a new card printed, and you always have the information available as to what kind of card was issued to a particular person.

There are certain LiveCycle Products that can certainly do what you want, but that is what we call expensive if that is the only task it is going to be used for. Certainly, data can be imported via a script from Excel, SQL, or other source and imported into form fields in an Acrobat form and printed. While I am not a big fan of Excel and would probably be happy to use FileMaker for the task (after all we are talking about a database task here). Using Excel or Word isn't terrible, it is only a badge.

Why Don't you design the art of the badges on Adobe Photoshop rather then any other software. This will be very help full and easy to get your work done professionally. All the Printing Company uses this software in order to get the good results.

I am doing my animation in Arena and we are using Adobe Photoshop,Illustator,Dreamviewer for designer.I recommend adobe products.If u need cheap designer click here.

In the past I've worked with clients on creating certificates and awards where I faced a similar issue.

A solution that worked for me was designing in Adobe Illustrator where more creative freedom is allowed, then I would import my files into InDesign. Once using InDesign I would switch in the necessary elements (name, picture, etc.) and save accordingly. The "Place" feature in InDesign is specifically useful if your interchanging images.

I'm the music business and sometime we have to make "Backstage" passes" and "Access All Area" passes with a bar code or a name on it. None of us is a professional designer, and we are very happy doing this with Photoshop Express. We had a trail version of Illustrator and it is a very powerful program, but I think it may be a bit over the top for what you would need it. It can be intimidating with all of the options. Just the humble view of a composer of instrumental music and surely no specialist in this field, but I hope it helps !
