Insert from File -"Before first page"

When I insert from file with the following steps:

Insert from file- select file-Location: before first page,

the file (PDF) gets inserted, however the original first page remains at the top of the file, followed by the inserted pages, and then followed by what was already in the document. What am I doing wrong here? We have to build our files from oldest to newest, like in a paper file and I am constantly having to move the first page down to where it is supposed to be.

Are you going to the Document menu, Insert Pages. . .  then selecting the file to insert from the dialog box, and then selecting Before in the Location drop down list and clicking First for the Page?

It works fine for me. You say it always places the inserted page as page 2 rather than as page 1 of the new combined PDF, is that correct?

Has it aways done this incorrectly? Just as a test have you ever tried to insert it after the last page? Will it do that correctly?

How about trying to insert it Before Page 1 (the third choice) does that work?

What is your version of Acrobat Pro and have applied all the updated for your particular version?

I believe you are on Windows?

Check the link to see all the updates that are available. Maybe one of them will fix your problem.

    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform= Windows

But be aware that there can be an ungodly number of updates. This just shows the updates for Acrobat Pro v9.

And according to the read me files these need to be applied consecutively, There is NO one master update that combines all the previous updates into one. You will not be happy, – been there, done that! Also no guarantee that it will fix your problem.
