Graphic Enter on Cilick With Defined Motion Path and Scale

Jul 17, 2012 2:28 PM

Hello all,

I'm trying to create an effect where a graphic (invisible on the stage) appears after a click on a click box, but it appears with a defined motion path and scale. I want it to look like it's actually "emerging" from something that is on the stage.

When I use advanced actions and "Apply Effect", it doesn't seem that there's a way to define those effects (other than a few very basic parameters). I'm sure I'm missing something, as I'm relatively new to this type of advanced action usage.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much.

- Scott

That's a little generic of a description Scott. Can you tell us what version of Captivate you are using and what you have tried to do in the effects panel? You can use more than one effect on the same object. Depending on how complicated you want it, it seems like you should be able to do it but again, I'm it real clear on what effects you are looking for.

If you want to apply this effect with an advanced action, first you have to create a custom effect with the Timebased work flow, and save it. Then apply this effect at least once to an object. This is needed to make it available in the dropdown list of the advanced actions statement Apply Effect. Be careful with the timing of the custom effect: timing is always relative to the object's timeline, so create your custom effect that way.

Fine, could you mark the thread as answered?

Here is a very old article I once wrote about custom effects:

Perhaps I should create a new one, or a tutorial on YouTube with the new Video feature of Captivate 6 or Presenter 8.
