I have some PDFs and I can not delete the bookmarks. Windows XP SP3., Acobat 9.4. I deleted the bookmarks with Adobe, saved the document. Opened it and the bookmarks are still there. So I tried ISIToolbox Pharma edtion and it just hangs. I deleted the bookmarks with Adobe and saved the document with a new name. Bookmarks still there.
Also I can not seem to get these documents to optimize (message: there is an error optimizing) regardless of what option I use. I've been through each one one by one.
These PDFs came from an XMLpulbisher tool from a major database company (starts with O)
So any idea, besides export bookmarks and hyperlinks, export document to eps or whatever, redistill etc?
If you can share a file, perhaps with some dummy data in it but problem bookmarks, it could help - at least some people might be able to test and see if it's a general problem, perhaps corrupt PDFs.
Not sure I can do that since it needs redaction.. I did further analysis using View > Navigation
There are no articles, destinations,
Content shows nothng but the Page #. For Example Page 1 is the only content, no sub content,
Order is nothing but page #'s
No Tags, Model Tree,
Typewriter tool wont work.
Can't select Objects or Text.
Attempts at OCR give error: Acrobat could not perfrom recognition (OCR) on this page because ENU.
I've basically given up having researched this quite a bit. Oracle says they bought this PDF rendering technology form someone long ago and have no documentation. This is not a one off instance. All the files out of Oracle Clinical are this way.
Hard to understand without looking at the files, but couple of things to try:
a) Update Acrobat to the latest version 9.5.1. (Help->check for udpates)
b) Try using PDF Optimizer. In the "Discard Objects" panel, select discard bookmarks.
