Setting ACR as default

How can I change my CS default to open in ACR instead of photo gallery which it says is not updated?

    You've used too few words.

However, I'll make a couple of guesses:

Go into Bridge and seek the Preferences - File Type Associations dialog.  From there you can make changes defining what application to open.

From within Photoshop you can change Preferences - Camera Raw Settings, and choose different behavior for opening JPEG and TIFF files.  While you can get Camera Raw to open some PSD files, it's not really meant for anything but actual raw files and JPEG and TIFF.

Michael, unfortunately I still can't discern what you want your system to do, from what you have described.  Please go into a little more detail about exactly what you want to happen that is not happening.

You have not said what type of image you want opened in ACR.  If it is a raw image you have to choose your camera specific version.

Also, most use save image setting in sidecar "xmp" files rather than camera raw database.

With a TIFF or JPEG you can open in ACR with a right click and choose option.

    They are raw file. Cr2(canon)

But from what specific Canon camera model?

In file type associations just change Cannon Camera Raw to CS6.  Does this work?
