Have CS2 Indesign - made a shortcut for making text bold - has been working - now it only will make bold text regular.
Have a large dokument with a lot of text to edit so any suggestion will be helpfull?
What font are you using? What operating system?
InDesign's shortcut for toggling Bold depends on the way the font designer designed the font. Doesn't work for some fonts, or toggles to Semibold instead.
I am using Windows XP pro and font Ariel.
I just tryed with another font - Times Roman - that was ok - also tryed to make Ariel Italic with shift+ctrl+I and that worked.
Is it possible to make it function (bold) on Ariel or do I have to use another font.
It's working here with the OpenType version of Arial (I have to run CS2 on the XP virtual machine on windows 7) but I don't recall any problems back when I had a real XP box running.
Since that was a defualt shortcut I'm not sure why you would make a custom set for that?
Try trashing your prefs (see Replace Your Preferences)
I have just followed your Replace your Preference by moving the 2 files and new were created. Still no luck.
I have tryed several shortcuts on several font and it looks like the only one that is not working is Ctrl+shift+B on font Ariel.
I went to my laptop were i have the same CS2 install. with just standard set shortcut (as far as I rember no change) and the Ctrl+shift+B is not working here either.
Why I made a custom set : I changed the Ctrl+shift+B to Ctrl+F only for Kontext: Text - easier to use.
Alright, I think maybe I've gotten confused about what is assigned to what and what works, and what doesn't.
Would you mind summarizing for me what the custom set is to Apply Bold, both in the default context and the text and tables context, and waht is assigned to Apply Normal in the same two contexts, and when they work and when they don't, and also when the Default shorcut set (not your custom set) works and doesn't work.
I will - i'm glad you will help.
Have a standard (default) set - Ctrl+Shift+B does not work on Ariel(apply bold) but if I use it on Ariel bold it makes Ariel Bold normal - on other fonts it is working both ways.
Have a custom set where only this shortcut is changed - I added Ctrl+ F for Context: Text. and Ctrl+F for Context: Tables (Ctrl+F is taken Context: Standard(default) for Find and replace). How it works here is the same as in standard set
Apply normal in both set is Ctrl+Shift+Y and is working on all fonts
So if I'm understanding correctly, none of the shortcuts are working to make Arial bold, but they do work to toggle bold back to normal, and they work with other fonts to make them bold. Is that right?
What version of Arial do you have?
