I can't open Adobe Reader X

I reinstalled Reader, repaired through the control panel and downloaded the update as recommended. and I still can not even open Reader, let alone any files. I can't open files in a browser nor any saved files on my computer. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

    If you are running Windows, try the Acrobat/Reader Cleaner tool:

     

    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html

     

    Then re-install.

    Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it but I still can't open pdf files that were saved on my computer or from Internet Explorer. I can open a file from the web using Chrome so I guess that's progress. I have a PC running XP if that helps with any other tips.

    Are you saying you cannot open a pdf file using File -> Open menu item in Reader or are you saying when you double-click on the file Reader doesn't open.

    I can't open Reader. I've been double clicking on different files and trying right click->open.

     

    Online I get the error message 103:103 when I try to open a pdf..

    Same issue, Windows XP SP3

    Attempt to Open Adobe Reader (most recent version as of this morning that also worked fine yesterday) AcroRd32.exe shows in task manager for 2 seconds and then disappears

    no events are creted for this, AV is disabled, in fact everything in msconfig but the basic windows settings is disabled.
