How t use a pipe character in menu bar?

I'd like to use a pipe character between menu items, but not before or after the menu.

I dragged a Horizontal Menu onto the page. In the fly-out menu, I chose "Show right icon: On". Now a square appears after each menu item.

I reduced the width of the square to a pixel and adjusted the padding of the menu text item to vertically center the pipe.

My question is, how do I get rid of the last pipe character, the one after the last menu item?

I tried deselecting Edit Together in the fly-out menu; but, when I delete the last character, all the pipe characters are removed.

Is there a better way to accomplish this simple task?

    Hi,

It appears that visibility of the right icon does not respect "Edit Together: off"

But strokes do, so perhaps you can achieve your design by setting stoke weights (top:0, bottom:0, left:0, right:1) on all menu items, then turn Edit Together off, and reset right stroke on the last menu item to 0?
