Anyone else have issues with Transform All?

Anyone else frequently finding that using the “Transform All” option in Illustrator’s object transformation panel tends to give them funny results. By funny results I mean that every object's location in space gets altered when trying to transform each one. Working with maps and point data, this is an issue because spatial accuracy is important.

I usually have to deselect one of the objects in the group, do transform all, then transform that single object to match the rest of the group.

Is this a bug? Why do I have to 'hack' the software to get around the funny results?

I've run into this a few times as well but haven't noticed any trend into why or when it happens. Some thoughts would be great here!

Illustrator makes no difference beween "selecting the group" and "selecting all elements that are inside  the group" and that's why you have to deselect one of them.

AI has been and still is hobnailed when it comes to transform each or align things inside grouped objects. That's why you have to take daft workarounds like deselecting an object or just an anchor point.
