Question re changing from CS 4 to CS6

Jul 4, 2012 3:44 PM

Is it best to uninstall CS4 Production Premium before I install CS6 from disk?

If I remove CS4 from my PC and install CS6 on my PC - can I put CS4 on my laptop legally?

Thanks.

Do you have a volume license?

If not then the license is basically the same as you need to have the previous version license to be entitled to the upgrade.  As long as you are still within your two allowed installations.

    Hi Jeff,

Is it best to uninstall Creative Suite CS4 before I install CS6 from disk? Will I be able to use both version (one at time, of course)?

There is no technical reason to uninstall CS4, since CS6 will install separate from CS4 either way. of course if you don't wanna kepp CS4, removing it before any new installs would be smarter than getting into trouble when uninstalling it later....

What kind of problems are you talking about here?

I just installed CS6, but didn't uninstall CS4 first.  Sounds like unless I'm dying for space (which I kind of am), I should not uninstall CS4 or there will be problems.

What do I need to do?  Is there a best way to uninstall?  I've read about Cleanups or Cleansweeps or some such thing, can you give me the specific steps that I need to follow?  CS6 opens just fine right now!

    Thanks,

SunnyDulce you will want to utilize the uninstaller to remove the software.  I am unsure which operating system you are using but if it is Windows then you would use Programs & Features to remove the software.  The issue you may run into, which I believe Mylenium is referring too, is that you will need to manually set your file associations to the CS6 applications after you remove CS4.
