Hi everyone,
I've been using Photoshop for some time and have gotten decently good at it...
I would like to start doing web design. I was wondering if theres any
tutorials or books that would help me go about this.
I am willing to pay for the tutorials online...
Also, This is off topic, But for graphic design/photo editing,
Do you perfer to use a Mac or PC? I'm buying myself a new laptop
and I was considering getting a Macbook Pro.
Thanks!
Caroline.
I'll answer your second question first. From a cost consideration, switching from Win to Mac means buying Mac compatible software. Or purchasing Windows and running it in parallel on your Mac. Personally, I would stick with Windows.
Designing for Print has almost nothing in common with Web Design. At a minimum, you'll need to learn HTML & CSS code. There are plenty of on-line tutorials to help you with that.

I'll go along with Nancy's recommendations and mention that for learning both DW *and* HTML/CSS, the book "Dreamweaver CS5: The Missing Manual" by David Sawyer McFarland is an excellent one. Get it and read it several times if you can. And know that the more you learn about HTML and CSS, the easier learning DW will become.
Hi
I agree with Nancy on this. The other thing to remember is that 90% of your users will probably be using windows, and even though the difference is minimal between windows and mac's these days when it comes to display, there is still a difference, so using a windows machine is the best option in my opinion.

You said you were willing to pay for online tutorials, so I thought I would mention lynda.com. It has TONS of video tutorials with exercise files(for premium memberships) and covers most any topic you can imagine. There are way to many FREE tutorials though to justify the 25/35 dollar a month subscription if you're only going to ise it for DW.
For Dreamweaver CS 5 I would recommend the following books. I bought all of them and found them more or less complimentary to each other
Dreamweaver CS5: The Missing Manual
Dreamweaver CS5 Digital Classroom
This one includes video training
Dreamweaver CS5 for Windows and Macintosh: Visual QuickStart Guide
Hope this helps

The Visual QuickStart Guide from Peach Pit Press looks like it contains much of the same information you would find in the DW CS6 Help Files (F1).
