Where to start learning?

Jul 18, 2012 5:51 PM

I am a print designer but really need to be able to build web sites or at least work on managing existing sites for clients. Is dream weaver the best program for me to learn? I really do not know what I need to learn, and do not want to learn something that is not current. Can anyone advise?

How much do you know about HTML and CSS?  If you know nothing then there are no short cuts.  You can try Adobe's tutorials on DW but you will only learn how to do things parrot fashion without knowing why you are doing them.

Start by buying this book first:

    Good luck.

. The part of your question that has not yet been answered is "is DW the best program for me to learn?"

DW is a good general purpose set of tools for doing web work, and yes, it is current. You can use/learn it while you learn HTML/CSS.

Long before there was FLASH there was HTML, and although the technical environment evolves rapidly, HTML/CSS remain the core for the web. Whether this will hold true for mobile devices in five years, who knows.
