I have two questions in relation to comment tags in a blog:
I know URLS help to solve problems, so:
NOW the questions:
1) In the blog, it says for example, under the blog post :
Comments (2) and is clickable.
However, when clicked, it does not SHOW the comment, it take me to a page that hasn't yet been made. I can MAKE this page, I just don't know where it is located? LIke, what page show I build, or redirect the hyperlink on the word comment, to make it go to my Blog page that is expanded?
2) After a comment is posted, which page should I edit so it gives a "Thanks for you comment" blah blah... and maybe even gives them an option to return to where they were?
I am also trying to figure how to get a page to redirect after a comment submit. After getting the system message for a form or comment submit I would like the user to be redirected to the page they were previously on. Is this possible?
I need the answer to this as well. you can set a page to redirect to simply enough, but when its a blog article how do you make it redirect to that particular blog article, when you can only set that globally in the post layout?
The blog like other aspects of BC has layouts.
Under the blog layouts you have the overal blog layout, the postlist blog layout (the list view) and the post view.
Blogs always link to the post view (the more info aspect of a blog) which is how blogs work.
Comments thank you message is a system message and can be found in the system pages section of the admin or under the assoicated folder in the Layouts folder via FTP.
These are all outlined in the BC knowledgebase.
Thanks for the info Liam,
Hopefully BC will make that a turnkey option at some point in regards to blogs. It seems like the logical expectation from a users point of view, to be returned to see their comment added. (if not requiring moderation of course)
Also would be great in future if BC implement the capability for commenter's to reply to another's comment.
