Is there a setting to do this?
Say you are moving an object downward. If you grab the object, then hover it over the bottom scroll bar, you should scroll lower on the canvas.
How about auto scroll up and left?
The same is true for any direction. Just hover over the boundary of the window.

try it with the Rulers On, maybe not necessarily but expand the document window to fill the Application window.
Works with rulers on. Auto scroll seems so natural to me. I wonder why it's not important in AI. Does everyone just zoom in and out?
personally I don't like auto scroll, I do zoom out if I need to move something out of my viewing area.
