Hello,
I am unable to generate PDF with the FrameMaker 8 file with Chinese conent. I was able to add the Chinese content in the FrameMaker file by selecting the available Chinese languages at Region and Language settings in the Control Panel. But when I save the FrameMaker file as PDF it's showing the following error in the Acrobat Distiller.
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
Can anyone please help me in resolving this issue.
Thanks in advance!
Navz
I have no experience in using Chinese in FrameMaker documents. It may not be the Chinese that is the problem. The problem could be in an imported graphic. To check this, try turning off the display of the graphics (I think this is in the graphics menu under Options, but not sure). Then create the PDF.
Hi Navz27,
Goto control panel and printer and faxes and take a look if you have Adobe PDF as an option there,if yes then make sure right click it and set it as default printer,in case you dont have it,kindly click on Add printer and select Adobe from the list and add adobe pdf a a printer and made it default printer.
Come back to Framemaker try and save it as pdf and if you still get the issue then there is one more option in the "File" menu at the bottom that says "Print",click on print and try and generate the PDF from there.
Let me know if that works,if not then we have to troubleshoot a bit on this.
regards
Harpreet.

What version of FM are you using to attempt the printing?
If FM8, on what platform (Windows, Unix)?
> ... with Chinese content ...
What font?
Is it a codepage or Unicode font?
> ... save the FrameMaker file as PDF ...
Try printing to file as .ps and Distilling that separately. This will isolate the problem to either the FM print engine or the distillation process.
> %%[ Flushing: rest of job
Normally, the actual error that caused this appears prior to that line. By Distilling separately, you should get a log file that retains that crucial detail.
Depending on your platform, you may not have a separate instance of Distiller to run.
Thanks for your reply, Harry!
Setting the Adobe PDF as default printer method is not working. It's giving the same error. But the "Print" option method is able to generate PDF with an issue. It is generating only middle part of the page as PDF. The right and left side of the page is lost. Actually my document is in Landscape. When I tried to set the page layout properties other than "Letter" option for this issue, it is not generating PDF and giving the same error again.
