Partial Circle?

Jul 19, 2012 2:22 PM

I need to make a partial outlined circle. In other words, instead of the outline being a full circle I need it to ony be about 3/4. How can I do this in Illustrator CS 5?

    kcrossly,

    You may:

    0) Rotate if needed,

    1) Cut at two Anchor Points with the Scissors Tool,

    2) Delete the path between the cuts,

    3a) If you want to keep the straightness between them, select the remaining part and Ctrl/Cmd+J to close the path, or select the Pen Tool and click on both;

    3b) If you want the shape to have a concave part with straight segments to the centre, select the Pen Tool, click one of the cut ends, then the centre, then the other cut point.

    Hi there,

    Jacob's direction are correct, just thought I'd provide screenshots to help.

    1. Start with a full circle.

    2. Using the Add Anchor Point tool (an alternate to the Pen tool) add an anchor point between any two of the main anchor points.

    3. Then click delete!

    That is easy this is more complex but it gives you an opportunity of being accurate.

    You make a pie chart/graph you enter in the firstr data filed the angle of the opening remember a circle is 360 degrees and in the second data field you enter the remainder of.

    Then you get two a pie chhart with 2 section with the directr select too select the section you wish to discard and delete it and then remove the fil for the section you wish to keep.
