Hi,
I have a few technique questions that I can't figure out how it was done.
—Does anyone know how National Geographic created the split image comparison in June issue's terra?
—What about the climbing route timeline map they created in 5/11 issue?
Was either created with HTML5 or am I missing some features in DPS plugin? Also I have been sideloading folios and noticed I can zoom-in on regular pages even though it is not setup for it. Is this a glitch or I am doing something wrong wiht my layout (folio is based on pdf)?
Thanks.
Here is a video that shows my technique for creating the same effect as the National Geographic created the split image comparison in June issue.
It is a simple Image Sequence; not HTML5 is required.

yes, great technique and the best solution with DPS native elements. the html solution would offer a bit more interaction and better interface, but people will drag the slider anyway to this solution does a great job for this.

there are plenty of them:
https://www.google.com/search?sugexp=chrome,mod=0&sourceid=chrome&ie=U TF-8&q=html5swipeimagebeforeaftertutorial#hl=de&safe=off&sclient=psy-ab&q=jqueryimagebeforeafter&oq=jqueryimagebefore+after&gs_l=serp.3..0i30j0i8i30l2.38740.42549.0.42650.28.20.1.5. 5.1.219.2270.6j12j1.19.0...0.0...1c.w54hr9mhSqc&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc .r_pw.r_cp.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=2b4d70291d1b2be6&biw=1328&bih=704
and there is already a jQuery plugin for this:
http://www.catchmyfame.com/2009/06/25/jquery-beforeafter-plugin/
but it does not work on Touch devices, you need to add jQuery-Ui-Touch-Punch after the plugin
https://github.com/furf/jquery-ui-touch-punch
so you need to be familiar with jquery and stuff to build it.
and for the record, this has absolutelty nothing to do with HTML5. it is plain simple HTML and javascript.
a HTML5 example could use the HTML5-only element for this.

Hi Johannes,
I can see the advantages of an HTML5 solution, but I am a little "code challenged"
Do you (or anyone on the forum) know of any tutorials for how to do this in HTML5?
thanks,
Dave
