I have encountered a cropping problem in cs4

After cropping a photo in cs4 i have tried hitting the return key as well as edit/crop and then my photo disappears and the image box reduces in size to about 1 inch square with no image. I have expanded the image box but nil photo. This has never happened before. I reloaded cs4 onto my computer but the problem still exists. I have also tried out opening the file from Bridge as well as Photoshop with the same result.

    You give no information (see next post) but I'll make a wild guess: 

     

    You have some ungodly value in the resolution box in the Option bar of the Crop Tool.  Hit the "Clear" button in that same Options bar and try your crop again.

    thanks for your input. I am not sure what other information you require.

    I have re-installed cs4 and updated to v 11.0.2 and the average size of file that I am working on is 1920 x 2560 pixels with resolution 350 dpi, so it is not a resolution issue. I also have v 11.0.2 version running on my lap top and it works just fine. What has occurred on my mac is yesterday I posted an update to iPhoto but this should not affect cs4. I have not run the same update on my laptop.

    I am running LION on my mac but SNOW LEOPARD on my lap top.

     

    So as far as I am concerned cs4 started playing up after I posted the iPhoto update.

    What I was wondering about was not the resolution of your document, but the value you may have entered in the Crop Tool's Resolution box in the Options Bar of the Crop Tool.

     

    For instance, it's common for users to inadvertently end up with a resolution of 0, 1, or 10000 pixels per inch in that box, which would trigger exactly the consequences you are describing here.

    ADDENDUM— Don't worry about the iPhoto update.  iPhoto is a piece of cr@p, but installing an update of it shouldn't interfere with Photoshop.

    that was the problem, I cannot thank you enough.

    ther was a value of 1 in the width box, once I cleared it all was well - again, thanks
