Can I install CS6 update on new imac running Lion with just my original serial number? No longer have original CD, my last computer was stolen, have old G4 with photoshop there but can't seem to migrate it and have it active on new machine.
I have Photoshop CS3. My original Photoshop was i believe Photoshop 3! have serial numbers still, and CS3 upgrade disk, but no longer have the original PS 3 installation disk. I had migrated - copied over PS to new machine, had a home burglary so machine is gone. How do the upgrades work - don't they need that original program? Can't afford to start over but really need my Photoshop!
You can download CS3 by following the directions listed at http://ProDesignTools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here. html. As for upgrades the installer will just ask for the qualifying versions serial number.
If you are planning on using 10.7 or even the very soon to be released 10.8 I might recommend upgrading to CS6 as opposed to installing CS3. You may run into difficulties when trying to utilize Photoshop CS3 on this newer OS. You can find some of the details at Known issues | Adobe on Mac OS 10.7 Lion - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/known-issues-mac-os-10.html.
Thank you so much, this was what I was hoping for! And you're right - any version younger than CS6 it seems, won't run in Lion 10.7 now because of the lack of Rosetta driver. I'm replacing all my software with newest updates because of that but was confused about how it works - I thought the upgrades needed the original softwares for a starting point - foundation as it were - and of all things, the one program disk missing is my photoshop - my work horse - Thank you so much!
