Facebook doesn't recognise latest Flash Player version

I am using Windows 7. When trying to use an application in Facebook, I keep being told that I do not have the latest version of Flash Player, it directs me to the download page, I install it and am told it has installed successfully. Try the app again and go through the same process.

I resolved this problem by installing IE9, even though I had not wanted to do this. I'm disappointed that I did not get any further help after providing details of my OS and Flash Player and worked it out for myself. It's apity there was no fix to allow me to still keep IE8 which I was entirely happy with
