Advise for PC Build for Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Affect Effects..

I'm new to Adobe CS6 products and I'm looking to build a pc that would perform well in these applications. Partially,  Photoshop,  Illustrator,  Premiere Pro,  and Affect Effects.   I would rather not to have upgrade any of the coponents for the next 3-4 years. 

 

I would like to keep the budget for the PC itself under $2,500 if possilble.  I would also like to have a very effective system  for the price.

 

One of the problems I'm running into is the gpu.  I can't decide between the gtx 570 2.5 gb for around $300 new,  the gtx 580 3 gb (arond $500 new),  or the gtx 670/680 4gb.  Does the gtx 680 run great in photoshop and premiere pro?   I noticed it's not offically supported in either at this moment.  And would like to hear more about it's compatiablity or lack there of.

 

Right now, I'm thinking about a setup like this:

 

Intel Core i7-3820

Asus P9X79 Motherboard

GPU (between 570 2.5gb, gtx 580 3 gb, or gtx 670/680 4gb)

32 gb of Corsair Vengeance Ram

Samsung 8300 256 gb SSD (for programs and operating system)

x3 Western Digital Caviar Black 1 Tb

    Similar questions have been asked before.  But it would be nice to get some specity opinions rather than general advise for this build....

     

    aka,  would buying a gtx 680 4gb make sense (to you) for a $2,500 USD build?

     

    With the currrent state of things (without further updates from adobe) would  you run the gtx 680 with premiere pro or would you prefer the gtx 580?

     

    With the budget in mind,  would a i7-3930k be a worthy upgrade ove a i7-3820? Would this help performance more than the upgrade from a gtx 570 2.5 gb to a gtx 680 4 gb?

    How poorly does the gtx 680 perfrom in premiere pro for to you prefer the gtx 580 for the time being?

     

    I'm a bit confused by your yes/no repsones..

    Not with that budget. It is too expensive within that budget range and goes at the cost of other much needed components.

     

    With the currrent state of things (without further updates from adobe) would  you run the gtx 680 with premiere pro or would you prefer the gtx 580?

     

    Again, with your budget limitation you are better of going for the GTX 570, that performs almost equally well as the 580 or 680, but saves a lot of money.

    I'm just trying to get a good idea of how the GTX 680 performs in CS6.

     

    I do a bit of gaming.  And the ability to run more than two monitors is plus.  So I am thinking about it the gtx 680.  I'm also planning on keeping cs6 for a while and I'm not planning on updating to CS7... I just to trying to judge how much risk is there in going with the GTX 680 for video editings,CS6, and possibly other 3rd party platforms..

    I don't think anyone is suggesting that the 680 performs poorly in CS6....just that you'll get more bang for your buck by doing other upgrades first.  You're in a Premiere forum, and that is kind of the typical Premiere answer.  However, since your opening post mentioned a number of other applications and you do gaming also, I think you should seriously consider the 6XX series.  If budget is an issue, go for the 670, but don't spend extra for the 4GB.  Consider upgrades to processor and/or disk setup before spending too much on the graphics card though.

    Yes to both. In fact, I would not purchase an i7-3820 because its performance is too close to that of a high-end LGA 1155 CPU to justify spending a significantly higher price on a potentially lower-quality motherboard (and low-end Socket 2011 motherboards generally cost as much as or more than relatively high-end LGA 1155 motherboards).
